If you owned a device that cost you several hundred dollars, or perhaps more than a thousand dollars, and contained all your private and confidential communications, would you just hand it over to some guy who was probably a jock in high school and works in a profession with a reputation for seeing every citizen as a potential threat?

Something is wrong with an industry that won't support their hardware. If the owners of these phones get replacements, that will be a significant impact on their budgets and a billion phones going to landfill. How long should they provide security patches? I don't know, but 7 years isn't enough.

I doubt that AI will become trustworthy enough to handle my money until long after I'm dead. I'm not giving Gemini access to make any orders on my behalf.

Comcast keeps losing customers despite price guarantee and unlimited data

In April 2025, Comcast President Mike Cavanagh bemoaned that the company's cable broadband division was "not winning in the marketplace” amid increased competition from fiber and fixed wireless Internet service providers.

Cavanagh identified some problems that had been obvious to Comcast customers for many years: Its prices aren’t transparent enough and rise too frequently, and dealing with the company is too difficult. Comcast sought to fix the problems with a five-year price guarantee, one year of free Xfinity Mobile service for home Internet customers, and plans with unlimited data instead of punitive data caps. But the company is still losing broadband customers at a higher-than-expected rate.

In Q4 2025 earnings announced today, Comcast reported a net loss of 181,000 residential and business broadband customers in the US. The loss consists of 178,000 residential Internet customers and 3,000 business customers.

They will lose me as a customer as soon as Mint Home Internet is available in my area. Comcast advertised pricing is a complete lie. They raised my rates again this year. I'm on the cheapest plan that they offer and it's $69/month.

Yikes! Fios for me is just $80 for gig internet (with no caps) and the cheapest plan is just 35. Between Comcast’s poor customer service and data caps it doesn’t surprise me it’s too little too late.

Silly lawsuit. If you don't like their prices there are other places to buy games - or maybe find something other than gaming to do with your time. I enjoy the convenience of Steam and their commitment to gaming on linux.

I don't need disk encryption in my personal life. There is more danger of losing data because of encryption failures or misplaced keys than the unlikely possibility that someone gains access to my drive. However, for those who need drive encryption, Microsoft in making it difficult to keep control of your keys out of their hands.
